FITNESS COLLEGE

Helping make what you see behind closed eyelids a reality!!

In the campus cafeteria, you will find recipes that will help you stay on track. I mean grilled chicken breasts taste great, but if I were to ask you on your 10th straight day of eating grilled chicken breasts, I seriously doubt you will say it still tastes great.

First things first, it is all about the ingredients. Remember the adage, "Garbage in, garbage out!" Well, this definitely applies when it comes to eating. The fresher your ingredients, the better the taste. Now, I am not saying that you need to stop by the grocery store every single day to pick up ingredients for that day's meals; all I am saying is, when possible, use fresh ingredients. For example get your hands on some fresh herbs; plant them, buy them fresh and keep them in a zip lock bag with a damp paper towel or in a glass of water on a window sill, whatever...your meal will taste better if you use fresh herbs in lieu of dried herbs.

With this said, convenience is the other main item to take into consideration. I personally choose to use frozen meats over buying freshly cut meats. I find that the taste benefit gained by using the freshly cut meats is insignificant to the convenience gained by not having to stop by the store every few days. I also gain time by having planted many different types of herbs. Luckily I live in Texas, so my herbs grow pretty much year round. If you happen to live in a cooler climate, remember many herbs grow indoors very easily.

Eating healthy does not have to taste like eating cardboard either. There are plenty of ways to dress up that chicken, tuna, or whatever, so grab your apron and some spices and in the immortal words of the legendary boxing referee, Mills Lane, "Let's get it on!!" Simply click on one of the categories below to be taken to some tasty recipes.

Eat all that you want, chances are that your diet will still be lacking necessary vitamins and minerals, which is why it is still a great idea to take a multi-vitamin. Just keep in mind that most high quality "protein shakes" (i.e. Meal Replacement Powders) actually contain many vitamins and minerals found in a top quality multi-vitamin, so do not take a multi-vitamin with your protein shake, unless, of course, you like flushing money down the toilet. You should space out the timing of the protein shake and multi-vitamin, as your body will only absorb its fill, and you'll end up flushing the extra down the toilet. For example, if you drink a protein shake for breakfast, wait until lunch to take your multi-vitamin.
